This is a refreshing coffee with the clear acidity of muscat and grapefruit, and the floral notes of lemon and lavender.

Dukundkawa Musasa Cooperative was established in 2000 in Gakenke district, northern Rwanda, with a mission to improve the welfare of coffee farmers through coffee processing and to sell the highest quality coffee to international markets. In order to improve coffee processing capacity, maintain quality and preserve flavour, the range was expanded to the high potential Nkara area and built a third washing station, Nkara CWS, commenced operations in 2008. Coffee is produced on 27.63 ha of farm with about 2,500 trees per 1 ha and an average of 250 trees per farmer.

The beans are sorted on a long table, then sorted by its density many times by machine, water and hand, the coffee pulp is removed and the beans are repeatedly graded according to density to ensure the highest quality. Nkara CWS uses an 18 hours of dry fermentation and then the beans are washed, de-pulped and pass through a series of canals that allow lighter, less delicious coffee beans to pass through, while retaining the heavy, sweeter beans that are sun dried up to 12% relative humidity. The coffee is taken to the cooperative's dry mill located at Ruli before being exported.

The Nkara area is located between hills intertwined like fingers which provide cooler weather conditions throughout the season. This is essential and well suited for heavy juicy beans that produce the unique flavours in a cup.
